Dave Barrett from Durham catches specimen Bream

Angling Reports - 01 July 2006

Angling guests of Melview Lodge Dave Barrett and his girlfriend Tracy from Durham had some great catches of Bream, Tench, Hybrids and Roach. Kevin decided to take them on a Tench mission. Kevin lightly pre-baited the swim the night before and departed at 4am the following morning. The first cast for Kevin produced a cracking roach to 2lb but David seemed to be getting a lot of line bites. They started to catch Bream, Roach, Rudd and Hybrids, everything but Tench which was what they were targeting. David then struck into this fish that gave his rod bending action, thinking it was a large Tench. About 8 minutes later he brought the fish to the surface which turned out to be a specimen sized Bream which had fallen to three reds maggots feeder fished at twenty yards. David had good sport and will return to try for some large Tench.
